Description
In this varied role you work in the VHH development team, in a company developing new therapeutic treatments to benefit animal and human health. Our lab facilities have a biological safety grade BSL-1 and ML-1 as you will work with Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) and a large part of your tasks are in the lab. As a team member, you will be involved in practical lab work that is required during the manufacturing process of VHH in yeast and you will learn about quality control procedures and thorough documentation of the data. Some parts of the process will require to follow strictly sterile working procedures. So now and then, working outside of the office hours is required.
Company profile
Orthros Medical is a Dutch biotech company (www.orthros-medical.com) developing therapeutics and diagnostics for animal and human health, which are based on VHH, antibody fragments. These antibody fragments are derived from variable domains of llama heavy chain only antibodies. They are easy to engineer and can be manufactured in yeasts. The small size, full binding capacity and unique properties of VHH make it possible to explore different development routes to formulate a final product. The initial focus is on osteoarthritis, a joint disease affecting both humans and animals, for which Orthros Medical has a portfolio of potential new local treatments based on VHH technology. Orthros Medical collaborates with several industry and academic partners like Animalcare Group and the University of Twente. Currently, we are with a team of 6 people, scaling up to 10 in 2023. The offices and lab are situated in Raalte and most likely to be relocated to the UT Campus in Enschede in the coming years.
